Clean, then verify
A browser metadata cleaner for photos, PDFs, and compatible videos—files stay on your device.
Files never leave your device — processed 100% in your browser. Free, no sign-up.
Drop files here
They stay on this device. Nothing is uploaded.
A metadata cleaner here means clean the removable fields, then verify the download still looks empty of those tags before you share it.
Download the cleaned copy, clear the panel, then drop the download back in. The same groups that were removed should no longer appear for supported formats.
On macOS, select the file, choose File → Get Info, and scan More Info. On Windows, right-click → Properties → Details. Look for GPS, camera, and author fields that should now be blank or missing.
If you have ExifTool installed, run exiftool -gps:all on the cleaned file. An empty GPS report is a quick confirmation that coordinate tags did not survive the rewrite.
They overlap: both create a copy without removable descriptive fields. This cleaner page emphasizes the verify-after step—re-importing the download and checking OS properties—so you can confirm the result before sharing. A remover page may focus more on explaining the category and offering the same local rewrite.
It changes descriptive containers, not the visible picture or document artwork when the format allows lossless rewriting. JPEG, PNG, and WebP keep their compressed pixel payloads. PDF info fields are cleared. Supported MP4/MOV files rebuild metadata boxes without transcoding. File size may drop slightly because tags and embedded previews are gone.
Yes. Select up to 20 files, each 50 MB or smaller. Every file is inspected on its own. Successful cleaned copies are packaged into a ZIP entirely in your browser. Unsupported items stay listed with a clear reason instead of a fake success download.
HEIC and TIFF are examples where inspection may work but safe local removal is not available. For some MP4/MOV layouts—such as when moov sits before mdat—the tool reports fields and refuses a misleading download. You still see what was detected.
No. A metadata cleaner targets file containers such as EXIF, XMP, PNG text, PDF info, and video udta boxes. Signals encoded into pixels, including SynthID-style watermarks, are outside that scope. Platform-side marks applied after upload are also unaffected.
No. There is no upload endpoint, account, or server-side processor. The static page loads once; after that, supported cleaning continues in the browser. Closing the tab clears the temporary selection and results from that session.
Start from the homepage metadata remover for a broad overview, use the metadata stripper for container-focused stripping, or open the photo metadata remover when GPS and sharing paths matter most.
